Incredible Seoul, Incredible South Korea! (8 DAYS/ 6 NIGHTS)

from $3,289$5,799

Seoul, where the traditional and the modern coexist in harmony. When factoring in nearby areas, Seoul is considered the second largest metropolitan area in the world, and fourth in most economically powerful. So much history, culture, and tradition are embraced and intertwined with the modern age, that one might think they are in the setting of a fictional novel. Ancient temples, shrines, and waterways weave between towering skyscrapers, bullet trains, and modern-day supercar highways.  Truly something to experience, the scenery, architecture, and culture of South Korea is a memory to cherish.

As rich in culture as it is in history, most outsiders have a very different perception of South Korea than the reality. Much of this is attributed to the conflict with North Korea, where the DMZ near Gaesung city in North Korea, was heavily involved in the Korea war (1950 ~ 1953) and continues to be an area of tension between the neighboring countries. Explore the DMZ up-close and the rest of South Korea on Elite Voyage’s “Incredible Seoul, Incredible South Korea! 8-days, 6-nights” tour.

Fun Fact:
The number of banchan (side dishes) given during meals was equal to the diner’s status.

In historical times, the number of banchan given during a meal use to be based on your status! Anywhere from four to twelve different sides were a part of the meal—sometimes kings would have 100 varieties! Can you imagine how big the table must have been? This long tradition of side dishes is still evident in modern era Korean-style food.
